U.S. SENATOR EDWARD M (TED) KENNEDY ESQ.

The Lion from Massachusetts has gone to sleep in perpetuity in the arms of God and the saints, and in the company of his beloved family members who came before. After almost 50 years of walking the halls of the U.S. Senate, at the apex of political power, he used that power to help others during a career in public service that not all agreed with, but that all agreed has historic value for our nation and the institution in which Edward Moore Kennedy was honored to serve since succeeding the temporary replacement for his brother John-who held the Senate seat before assuming the Presidency of the United States of America on 20 January, 1961.

Similar to his slain brothers, Saturday next will see the once and former Senior U.S. Senator from Massachusetts interred in the hallowed grounds of Arlington cemetery overlooking the city in which he served the Commonwealth and our nation in a place where those who served our nation both with recognizable names or recognizable ranks are also resting in hallowed and sacred ground.

The nation will soon stop the outpouring of verbal and written post mortem thanks and turn its attention to matters which once concerned Ted Kennedy, whose legacy would be indelibly brightened by passage of a comprehensive national health insurance program.

And when that ultimate legislation is signed into law, not only will Ted Kennedy smile that Irish smile from afar, but he'll get a high-five from former Presidents Nixon and Truman who, in their day, tried to pass similar legislation; and he'll once again receive the thanks of a grateful nation.
